Having seen the sign for the Alpha Course hanging outside  Midsomer Norton Methodist Hall, I thought 'who can afford that?'

I was under the impression that the Alpha Course was an 'expensive' course, aimed at regular church-goers.

However, after looking at its website, I see that I was wrong on both counts.

Its website says: "it is a low pressure, fun and informative course and is designed primarily for people who don't go to church or who haven't been to church in a long time and are interested in the Christian faith."

It also says there is no charge for attending the course, although participants may ask for a contribution towards the food and or refreshments.

The Alpha course kicks off this Wednesday at 7pm with a meal at the Methodist Centre in the High Street.

Sounds like it is a worthwhile night out. Pity I have to work on Wednesdays.

Just so you know you don't have to book the meal. Just turn up at 7pm for the meal. In this case there will be a short video about the course. The evening is usually over by 9pm.
