COMBE DOWN Gareth Davies was man of the match and there were good performances from Joe French, Will Bryant and Sean Le Butt as the under-16s won 38-22 at Midsomer Norton.

After falling behind to an unconverted try, the visitors turned the game around through touchdowns from Theo Creton and Josh Etheridge, both converted by Charlie Small.

A Norton try closed the gap to 14-10 at half-time but Josh Peck and Erich Hall both scored within ten minutes of the restart, the latter after a strong run from Will Bryant, to put Combe in control.

Another unconverted score from the hosts made it 24-15 but Chester Ellis capitalised on a sharp offload from Davies to grab a try, which he converted himself.

Brad Hitchings then showed blistering pace to grab Combe's sixth try, converted by Small, before Norton had the final say with a try and conversion from the last move of the game.

Combe Down Minis showed their strength when they won all but one of their matches on a foggy, cold morning in Frome.

The under-7s and 8s enjoyed a mixed game, captained by Josh, with Lyndon, Lucas and Lilly H impressing from the younger age group.

Smiler and Joel F turned on the style for the under-8s, while Molly and Holly produced several great breaks and player of the day Charlie showed fantastic ability and determination.

Combe's under-9s played two games, winning the first 7-2 thanks to six tries from the rapid Robbie. Captain Charlie S ran the show from scrum- half, Daniel and Mackenzie put in some fantastic tackling and Harvey stole the ball at will.

Rory captained Combe to a 5-2 win in the second game, with three more tries from Robbie and a brace from the ever-improving Aiden.

After losing 7-0 in a lacklustre first match against Frome's strongest age group, Combe's under-10s used their forwards well to win the second game 2-1.

Inspired by Hamish, Arthur and a fantastic man of the match display from try-scorer Ben, they tore into Frome. Samuel and Louis tackled like tigers, while Curtis and Kieran continued their great form.

The under-11s and 12s played a mixed game and showed they had been listening to their coaches by rucking, mauling and passing their way to a fine 42-0 win.

Sam F, Lewis BK, Lewis W and Angus M were all on the scoresheet in a fine team performance.
