Somervale students have achieved their best ever results at A'Level this summer. Over half the grades were at A*, A or B and one in 6 grades was either A* or A. A third of the students achieved one or more A grades.
Five students achieved 2 or more A*/A grades. They were Marie Davis who is going to study Occupational Therapy at Bournemouth, Kristian Adamatzky who is going to Bristol to study Neuroscience, Joe Slade going to Plymouth to study Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Ashley Smith who will study Physics at Nottingham and Kim Turner.
Over the 29 students in Year 13 all those who wanted a place at University have got one. Others have managed to gain places on Modern Apprenticeships and have already started their training.
Headteacher Peter Beaven said "Somervale Sixth Form has produced some outstanding results this summer. It is a credit to the students for all their hard work and to the staff who taught them. All the students who wanted a place at University have got a place and those seeking Modern Apprenticeships have been equally successful. This is good news for our students at a time when many young people find it difficult to move forward.
The results at both Sixth Forms in the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership provide a solid platform for the new merged Sixth Form which comes into being in September. The Midsomer Norton Sixth Form – based across Norton Hill and Somervale sites will provide a huge range of courses and opportunities for the young people of our town. Clearly, from platform this they will gain access to the very best opportunities across the country."
