The team of 4, Yasmin Phillips, Kayla Davie, Jordan Phelps and Gemma Gurvidi, were awarded Reserve Champions in the first class, and achieved 4th place in the second class, in both cases ahead of equestrian centres such as Millfield School.
The event covers different styles of riding, with the students entering the JwS section – Jumping with style. This involves completing a course of both show jumps and cross country jumps while being marked for style of riding.
The team started the club at Norton Hill School last year, and now have 9 members involved. "We had an amazing weekend and it was an honour and a privilege to be the first riders to represent Norton Hill school at this very prestigious event," commented Yasmin Phillips. Mr Beaven, Headmaster of Norton Hill school, added, " We are very proud of their achievements, both in setting up the club, raising sponsorship money and competing so successfully. We believe that students who succeed in extra-curricular activities, also succeed in all aspects of school." The team is sponsored by local companies: Rotork, BMT Hi-Q Signs, Beechcraft, Ken Biggs, and Welton Bibby and Baron.
