Do you have a tuba skulking away at the back of your understairs cupboard? Did you used to make mothers weep with your rendition of 'Walking in the air' on cornet at the school Christmas concert?

Why not share you brass-playing gift with the world and join the community brass band?

Brass banding is a dying tradition in the UK probably due to the decline of the mining industry but there are still oom-pahs to be played and pints of ale to be drunk, you only have to see Brassed-off tinyurl.com/y8sn442 to get a taste of how unthinkable it was to have a village fete or carol concert without the village band.

The Midsomer Norton and Radstock Silver Band is a friendly brass band located in Radstock, and the band rehearses in the Radstock Methodist Church, every Tuesday from 7:30 to 9:30 pm.

The band also runs a beginners group who meet on Tuesdays at 6.30 pm. Beginners are given an instrument and tuition and when they reach the required standard will join the Band. If anyone is interested in joining this group please contact Chris Allard (chris.allard@o2.co.uk).

All other details on the band are available here tinyurl.com/yc9sunv
