I wouldn't have said the railway truck planters were lovely. However it is interesting that dolphins were chosen as it's not representative of the area at all. The dolphin monuments I've seen in the past have always been near the sea, so perhaps there's even bigger plans for the River Somer!

The Railway planters were a symbol of the words 'her-i-tage' of this area.
I heard about the big plans for the River Somer earlier today in Mallards (i couldnt go to the riverside cause of the new view) they are going to build a flood defence in the shape of a unicorn and a lifeboat on side made out of lovely sponge cake...
I know it was 1966 when the last coal pit went around here but seriously guys; remember it was the coal miners etc that made this place prosper; not some missing jubilee lamp or pair of lost dolphins...
I hope Norton and Radstock's Mayor and his council does recover from this mistake and fare better, he will never make it in the landscape design trade
The dolphins are certainly a talking point and when they are planted up with flowers they will look very friendly. The wagon has been moved to South Street and will soon be full of flowers. Lets enjoy our town and the folk who are trying to enhance it. We are quick to moan but slower to act for the benefit of the town.
You are right people are quick to moan...
But when are flowered dolphins a benefit for any town? Do they increase employment? Reduce carbon emissions? Reduce crime? No they sit there dreaming of their very own steel pacific ocean.
And yes I will praise the folk enhancing the town; the hard working mums and dads holding down numerous jobs whilst raising families, the businesses who work hard daily, but they dont put all their exploits in papers, they get on with it.
But I will take this all back if you can find me a family in Midsomer Norton who have put two large dolphins in their garden and said "dont hate us we are doing good for you"
