Is this a scam or what? Just got a phone call from a company called Lifestyle Claims, saying that I have probably been sold Payment Protection Insurance without my knowledge on my mortgage, credit cards and loans. Having quizzed them after being told I would have to pay a refundable deposit of £299, I asked for a website....the operator, asked me to wait, then never got back to me. I gather these calls are a scam. Has anyone else had experience with these callers? Better yet has anyone used them and got money back from PPI sales?

If you *have* ever been missold PPI, just claim it back yourself. Check out the Money Saving Expert website for detailed help. I did and got my PPI repaid. There is absolutely no need to use one of these companies. The steps are: you write to the lender stating why it was missold, they write back and turn you down. You then fill a simple form in and send it to the FSA who investigate, and inevitably the bank offer you the money back. Simple.

    Hi Chutzpah,
Thanks for that info. I will look into it. Oddly enough two days later, I got the phone call again.....and just told them I would be managing it myself. However, I was curious as to how much they would charge for their service.

i have used lifestyle claims i had 3 claims with them (feb 2011), one of the first things they wanted was £299 per claim up front which they claimed i would get back at the end. The first claim was sucsessful i was offered £1000 which out of that a third was taken for there fees etc. that took a year to prosess. a ferther 2 months later i was told that the 2 other claims had failed and they would return the money which i had payed up front I am still waiting for it (april 2012) all this time i have been paying interest on my credit card which they advised me just to make the minimum payment on ! all in all a poorly run rip off company. my advice DON'T TUCH THEM WITH A BARGE POLE.
