Give and Take day

Bath & North East Somerset Council will be holding their next Give and Take Day at the Somer Community Centre, Gullock Tyning, Midsomer Norton, Radstock
BA3 2UH on Saturday 18 May 2013 from 10am - 1pm. Give and Take days are a simple way for residents to get rid of reusable items they no longer need and take things that they do need, all for free. At previous events residents have donated a range of fantastic items including bicycles, sets of golf clubs, an inflatable swimming pool, brand new baby clothing and musical instruments.

The aim of the day is to reduce the amount of unwanted household items ending-up in landfill and costing the local taxpayer money in landfill charges, as well as reducing the amount of harmful gases being released into the atmosphere.
All residents need to do is bring along their unwanted reusable items (not broken or electrical ) and donate them at the Somer Community Centre from 9am with the last donation accepted at 12 noon. We will only accept small pieces of furniture or items that will fit into an average sized family car.

Badged volunteers will receive, check and sort your items on the day. Anyone is free to browse the collection of donations and take away items, although the Council is encouraging people not to take away more than 10 items.


The Council's Waste Campaigns Team will be on hand to offer advice on recycling, reducing household waste and home composting.

What items do we accept at a Give and Take day?

• Clothes and reusable linen e.g. sheets, curtains
• DVD's and CD's
• Garden ware and tools
• Bric-a-Brac


NO thank you!

• Electrical items
• Hazardous or toxic items e.g. paint
• Foam furniture e.g. sofas, chairs, duvets, pillows
• Gas appliances
• Broken or damaged items
• Tools requiring safety equipment
• No bulky items e.g. Cupboards, wardrobes *
• Videos
• No baby equipment – prams, car safety seats, bouncers


Volunteers urgently wanted for Midsomer Norton Give and Take day Saturday 18 May 2013
The Council's waste campaigns team urgently require volunteers for Saturday 18 May 2013 from 9am-2pm to help out at our next Give and Take day at the Somer Community Centre, Midsomer Norton. All volunteers will have first pick of donated items that come in on the day!
