AMANITA MUSCARIA: This mushroom also goes by the name of Fly Agaric - and yes, they grow right in the heart of Midsomer Norton!   • OX-EYE DAISY: The ox-eye daisy, sometimes called Marguerite, is similar to the common daisy but with a larger flower head and a much longer stalk. The flowerhead can be 2.5 to 6 cm diameter (June 2009). Print available from PHOENIX PHOTOGRAPHICS - Tel: 01761 412307

  • INDIAN BALSAM: This unusual plant can be readily found growing wild in Midsomer Norton. It was introduced to British gardens from the Himalayas in 1839, and it is the tallest annual in Britain, growing up to 2 meters in height (August 2008).   • CUCKOO-PINT: Also known as Lords and Ladies. Found growing beside the shadier parts of the old railway line walk ways in MSN. As attractive as these berries may seem, they are very poisonous... in fact all parts of the plant can produce allergic reactions in many people, and as such the plant should be handled with care!   • ORANGE BIRCH BOLETE: As the name suggests, these grow beside Silver Birch trees, and they are always an exciting find... and trust me, this one was living in Midsomer Norton (August 2008). Print available from PHOENIX PHOTOGRAPHICS - Tel: 01761 412307
  • RAMSONS: Commonly known as Wild Garlic. This pretty little plant is easily recognized by its heady garlic smell, and every part of it is edible and delicious. They grow in clusters in woodlands with moist soils - this particular specimen was growing beside the river near Five Arches (April 2009).
