Midsomer Norton, Radstock and Westfield election results

Midsomer Norton Town Council has a new town council.

Sixteen candidates were in the running for the newly formed council and the 11 that were elected were:  Linda Dunford with 1962 votes; Michael Evans with 1780; Jane Lewis with 1504; Brian Lawrence with 1680; Peter Mocock with 1721; Paul Myers with 1927 votes; Steven Plumley with 1944; Linda Robertson with 1693; Richard Robertson with 1454,  John Slade with 1136 and Simon Wellington with 1912. 

The candidates not elected were: Gael Doswell with 984 votes; Peter Sas with 839, Elaine Mclaren with 1018; Clive Rowlett with 1103; and Wayne Teall with 1036.

The first town council meeting will take place this Thursday, May 12 at 7pm and on the agenda will be the election of a chairman which will also become Mayor and the election of a deputy mayor.

A Town Clerk will also be appointed as will representatives for the Avon Local Council Association, the Sarah Ann Trust and Midsomer Norton Forum. 

The council will also decide where it will be located which will likely be in the Old Town Hall.

Heading the Radstock, Centre Ward parish will be John Dando with 421 votes; Elizabeth Derl-Davis with 389; Eleanor Jackson with 496 and Deborah Jan Porter with 331. The two unsuccessful candidates were Stephen Porter with 258 votes and Bruce Shearn with 309 votes. 

For the Radstock Writhlington Ward Parish: Roger Baber was elected with 280 votes, Hilary Boulton with 238 and Gael Doswell with 311. The unsuccessful candidates were Briog Mclaren on 220 and Mike Boulton on 231.

 

For the Westfield Parish: Rob Appleyard was elected with 985 votes; as was Roger Baber with 642; Anne Clarke with 570; Chris Cray with 758; Goeff Fuller with 778; Sue Hamilton with 808; Robin Moss with 617; Edward Newman with 596 and Ted Pack with 707; Sheena Russell with 660 and Phil Wilkinson with 532. The unsuccessful candidates were: Elizabeth Derl-Davis with 437; Anne Marie Jovcic-Sas with 365; Peter Jovcic-Sas with 364, Peter Lees with 519; Briog Mclaren with 349 and Elaine Mclaren with 446 votes.

    You're right Ellwoodjames there were 16 candidates. The results for the remaining candidates were: Gael Doswell with 984 votes; Peter Sas with 839, Elaine MclarenFfyff with 1018; Clive Rowlett with 1103; and Wayne Teall with 1036.
