As summer is in full swing (well you wouldn’t think so looking at today’s rain) I’m looking for places in Midsomer Norton to get away from it all, or for some place to lose the kids. If you know of any places, do share your secrets.

Do you have any secrets you'd like to share?
So here’s my top 10 secret gems of places to go or services to use to keep me sane this summer.
Children of all ages are flocking to the new adventure and skatepark outside the South Wandyke Leisure Centre. While the little cement sufers have fun, I can enjoy a relaxing swim in the pool.
Afterwards it’s off to The Island for a cup of coffee and delicious cake at No. 6. Here I can enjoy my refreshments in peace and watch the little ‘ens sitting on the kerbside.
Having drawn the blinds to keep from seeing them press their noses against the window, begging for something to eat, I leave No. 6 and head for Cottle’s Candies in the High Street. There’s a wide selection of old fashion hard candies, cakes, biscuit and confectionary. I’m hoping wine gums will stop children from whining!
Speaking of wine, I make reservations for dinner at the Moody Goose, which has an extensive range of world wines, not to mention a delicious menu.
Hoping to tire the youngsters out, we pop into Cheeky Monkey Play Centre at Pow’s Orchard.
Luckily earth mother friend is at play centre so I dump the kids and head for the Positive Living Centre for a quick massage. Fortunately earth mother understands the benefits of holistic therapies but fails to understand why it takes three hours for a treatment.
I do my best to hide the M&Co bags behind me as I collect the little darlings and head home.
Children refuse to eat fish sticks, so I’m forced to bribe them with a meal from their favourite takeaway. Shapla. No doubt I’ll be picking up poppadom crumbs from the carpet for weeks!
Babysitter has yet to arrive, and I’m turning into Moody Mommy. I tuck into carrot cake I bought earlier from Muffins Bakery. It’s the best tranquilser I know!
Sitter never arrives so phone Welton Cabs for lift to Moody Goose restaurant. Give driver extra big tip to drive children to London and back. Hopefully by then they’ll be asleep and will have enjoyed a lovely night out.

One more I forget to add in my last comment - the buffet car at Midsomer Norton South railway station in Silver Street.

ReportGood list. I'd add Number 6 restaurant to it, as it's still new-ish so maybe people haven't tried it out yet. Speaking of good places to eat, I'd also say a great place is the Fromeway in Radstock. Now that's a proper secret to most of us in Midsomer Norton. Seriously, it's a great pub since the refurb, and fantastic food. Wish is was a bit closer....

ReportReg's Veggies. A little gem of a greengrocers tucked away in plain sight. Reg is one of 'Norton's treasures. An octogenerian entrepreneur to whom the concept of "retirement" does not appeal.
