Having expected the new play area in Midsomer Norton would open in May, then at the end of June, it now looks as if it won’t open now until mid July.

The new play park that was due to open at the end of June
-
One of the attractions at the play park has been cordoned off

The park is now due to open on July 18.
A look around the site today, shows there’s no way it could open by tomorrow and now I have heard there will be an official opening event on Sunday, July 18.
No doubt youngsters in the area will be excited once the Somer Valley Adventure Play Park and Skate Park does open.
This new facility – next to South Wansdyke Leisure Centre – claims to offer something for all ages and abilities and will include a range of challenging play opportunities, and the skate park will be suitable for skateboards, BMXs, non-motorised scooters.

ReportWe went along on Saturday to see the new park and have been really impressed by the things there and the youngsters riding on it all. There seemed to be people coming from all over the area and Bristol too. It's a fantastic place for the kids to hang out. Well done the town for getting it open, at last.
