Standing empty: Gifts and More shut shop on Saturday
Today is the last day of trading for Mendip Monsters, which was a favourite with shoppers who enjoyed looking at exotic pets, such as snakes, lizards and other reptiles.
The shop in Holly Court, is just across from the discount store Gifts & More which shut shop on Saturday and is next door to Go Potty which has remained empty since closing in the summer.
“It’s such a shame,” said the owner of Bluebells Florist, “It will feel quite lonely now.”
Late last year Holly Court welcomed The Equestrian Shop to its downstairs level and trade continues to thrive at ladies fashion shop Level One, and at Bluebells and Blackmon Estate Agents.
However, the loss of these three shops leaves Holly Court looking rather bleak.
So what three businesses would you like to see move into Holly Court? Do you know of any other businesses closing or perhaps starting up? Please let us know.

The equestrian place does indeed sell a range of reptiles, plus frozen mice, rats, chicks etc. at very reasonable prices.
Highly recommended for reptile owners (or prospective owners!) - lovely staff too!

ReportStable Door Equestrian now has a reptile department. Selling a wide range of food, live and frozen, no need to bulk buy. Substrates, bulbs, etc for sale, GREAT PRICES. A large selection of reptiles for sale, with excellent after service, help and information.

Reportare you joking when you say replace these with a take away with have plenty of those at the top of the high street. its ashame that the shop closed again as it was a very nice shop. why not use the space for a workshop or something for local people to use and do in there spare time. i dont think we have enough local workshops in the area.

ReportLol mr Leamon! Don't forget we could use another bl**dy estate agent in town.
Any MSN reptile owners know a good place to buy frozen mice locally now? Our new snake is going to need a supply and would prefer not to buy in bulk (don't really want them stored with my pizzas etc.
