Today was the grand opening of Norton Discounts, which has taken over the old Helibeds building.

Plenty of space for customers to shop in comfort
Though I was hoping for a restaurant, the new shop exceeded my expectations. This store has lots of space so you don’t have to squeeze past people to get down an aisle, like you have to do at many shops in Midsomer Norton. It’s also bright and airy and the stock is well displayed.
And Norton Discounts does stock alot of items from car and pet care items, to stationary, toiletries, cleaning products, toys, food and household goods.
There is also a showroom upstairs featuring bespoke furniture by Chris Shannon, which is locally made.
Looking down the food aisle, I spotted some Marks & Spencers sauces and cakes as well as a good quality balsamic vinegar for only £1. I was also impressed with the stationery supplies and the range of card-making supplies that was also reasonably priced.
My bargains of the day however, were two huge jars of olives for a £1 each and reading glasses at £2.50, which at that price you can buy one in every colour on offer.
Glad to see the Helibeds building is no longer an eyesore and is being put to good use.
So I guess I now have to hope for a restaurant to take over the old Tonemar or Swan Arts buildings.
