What's to become of Midsomer Norton's fish now that river has been drained?

So what’s to become of the fish in Midsomer Norton’s River Somer now that it’s being remodelled?

Work began yesterday  to remove tons of silt from the River Somer. However the water in the High Street channel began to dry up on Friday and today there is a sea a mud from the Post Office to HSBC.

There are also  a few shallow pools of water with schools of fish. Will these be left to die as the sun beats down on the South West, or are there plans to save them?

The six-week project will see rocks, boulders and planting put in place to improve the enviromental quality of the river but I’m sure fish add to that as well.

Does any know what is to happen to the aquatic life?

For more pictures of the remodelling, see the River Somer Renovation Gallery.

saw lots of tiny fish swimming in the shallow water in the high street river, maybe that's a good omen for the remodelling of the river Somer. There seems to be much negativity surrounding the work, but I for one believe that apart from the ridiculous cost, this will enhance the river and help make the town centre a more pleasant place to shop. And YES, I will continue to shop there, bigger Tesco or not. I use Tesco sometimes but it can't replace the friendly personal service that you get in most of the towns shops.

Last night, three ducks were quacking and flying above the River Somer in the High Street. As the came into land in the water just outside Martin's Newsagents, they made a quick U-turn and flew back down towards Silver Street, making a great deal of noise. i've never seen ducks turn so quickly or be so noisy. Guess they were a bit peeved at being moved on!
