GETTING TO LONDON HAS NEVER BEEN SO EASY

West Country travellers can now book their coach seat on the Bakers Dolphin London Flyer on line.
The twice daily coach that runs from Weston–super–Mare through Bristol and on to Victoria coach station has been a mainstay of links between the West region and the capital since 1983.
Bakers Dolphin sales and marketing director Amanda Harrington said: “The Flyer is a well regarded, reliable and heavily used means of economic travel to London whether it be as a commuter or as a day tripper for a West End shopping fix.
“I am sure our passengers are going to make great use of the new facility for passengers to book a seat in advance via our website.”
The Bakers Dolphin bookings website has been hailed as one of the easiest to use and sophisticated sites of its type and contains details of every one of the hundreds of coach tour holidays, day, theatre or concert trips, festive season holiday and Disneyland Paris excursion operated by the company every year.
Amanda added: “The addition of the London Flyer to the website booking facility is perhaps a little overdue, but I am sure our passengers will make great use of it now.”
The company’s state of the art online bookings website proved a worldwide hit when it went live last year.
Almost as soon as the ticket sales site went live, the Weston-super-Mare based firm received bookings for three trips from a family in Australia.
“The site has been designed to be very easy to use and our customers can select and book the holiday or trip of their choice within a matter of minutes,” added Amanda
The site offers many facilities, including one which shows travellers all the tours available on specific dates. Alternatively, if customers want a particular country, a list of tours and dates to that country can be called up and bookings made.
Bakers Dolphin is the West Country’s leading coach tour operator with a fleet of around 70 coaches, one of the largest in the UK. It operates a full programme of UK and continental holiday tours, a huge programme of days out and trips to events, and the daily London Flyer coach service to the capital.
The website site is available on www.bakersdolphin.com , or customers can call Bakers Dolphin on 01934 415000.

I'm not saying that the trains will be back next week, next year or next decade, especially as the UK is currently virtually bankrupt and likely to be for some time to come. But return they will and must, especially if the two towns are going to survive as viable communities in the face of the end of cheap oil. Being negative about anything is tantamount to a self fulfilling prophesy. (I'll bet there were many Jeremiahs who said that there would never be steam trains at Midsomer Norton station; now look at the place.)

ReportHoward - I'm not rubbishing trains returning to Midsomer Norton and Radstock. I would dearly love to see that. It's just that I'm a bit cynical that it will ever happen. I just don't think i will ever be able to catch a train from Midsomer to Bristol or Bath....

ReportNot used the BD service before & might just give it a try as I do the journey occasionally. Went 'up the Smoke' and back on the Megabus last Wed (03/12) from Bristol to Victoria. A day out on me todd without the current Mrs OOF :). 2hrs 45min each way, cheap, comfortable, painless (as I suppose BD is). Just stick the earphones in, tilt the seat back & have a reeeeelax. Wouldn't drive it again out of choice.
Cheers, OOF.

ReportTraffic queues, congestion charge and parking makes driving in London pretty rubbish, too.
A rail service to Midsomer Norton and Radstock? You were rubbishing that in another story, coopslad - now, a welcome change of heart. Quite right too! You are not alone in this desire! You were right in the other story, too. We will have to wait a long time, but the railways WILL return. They have to.
