General Election 2010 - are you registered to vote?

Well everyone, it's getting close to that time again. Has it really been that long since the last general election? Doesn't time fly when our MPs are having so much fun?

I really don't know who I'm going to vote for yet in the election this time round. And I think 2010 could be one of the closest general elections for a long time, don't you?

But I do think that it's important that as many people vote as possible.

I came across this Government link the other day, it explains how to register for the vote if you're not already registered.

There also some info on the B&NES website for us in Midsomer Norton.

Anyway, I do wonder if Dan Norris will get back in. What do people make of the Tory chap Jacob Rees-Mogg? I heard he stands a good chance because of boundary changes around Bath.

And to be honest I don't know anything about the other candidates. Does anyone know who is standing for the Lib Dems? And is there anyone out there who is actually going to vote this time?!

I have no idea who to vote for this time. I don't trust any of the parties to do any good. I am so fed up with them focusing on single parents or families with too many children or the elderly. What about us single people who live on our own, working two maby three jobs to make ends meet but no entitled to any help. Wheres the fair in that. I do wonder sometimed if I would be better have a child and become a single parent.

Yes, I'm definitely going to vote. And while I want to see Labour get a kicking, I don't want them chucked out if the alternative is the Tories. So, Dan gets my vote, I suppose.
Probably not best the way to choose, but there you go...

I think our choice is very limited. Neither Dan Norris nor Jacob Rees-Mogg are particularly great candidates. They both have had their share of scandals expenses or other wise

Gail Coleshill is the Lib Dem candidate (although she seems a likeable person compared to the other two) she seems a bit wishy washy as is the whole party. They are pro Europe, which in personal opinion is the worst thing the UK could have done. We’ve surrendered almost all our powers to an organization whose books have never been audited. People were disgusted with the UK expenses claims. If they were to see what an MEP can claim – there would be outrage!
I stood as a candidate for the English Democrats in the EU elections in June and would definitely vote for them if we had a candidate standing in BaNES! Unfortunately, they don’t have the funding of the larger parties so I think we’re going to be stuck with one of the three main parties again (Yawn).
The English Democrat s campaign for an English parliament to bring us in line with Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. This would enable us to vote on issues which effect only English people. For example, all the other countries in the UK benefit from free prescriptions, free hospital parking, access to life saving drugs, cervical screening which start in women aged 20 (25 here), no uni top up fees, free care for elderly, freeze on council tax. We are unable to vote on these matters as we don’t have our own parliament. Anyone interested can go to tinyurl.com/y9kgrlv or watch this youtube video from last year. tinyurl.com/pu4e3c

The Tory chap is posher than posh - apparently a London banker who applies to be Tory candidate all over the place, and Northeast Somerset is his latest shot. Went canvassing in a Bentley with his own Nanny, I believe.

I'm not usually a Labour supporter but I have to say Dan Norris is a good bloke who will be a squillion times better than Rees Mogg the Tory person.
