Another HIgh Street shop closes in Midsomer Norton

Another business is closing in Midsomer Norton.

The Tonemar furniture shop, located at 55a High Street, has already stripping out its fixtures in order to close down within the next few days.

This sees the third shop in as many months close its door, following Nice and Mickeys, which was just across the street from Tonemar. And there are still empty premises at the former Card Market, as well as Helibeds, Cookware 98  and  rental space within the Hollies.

I wonder if Tonemar will join this list of empty buildings lining our High Street. What business would you like to see come to Midsomer Norton? Do you think we’ll soon be a town full of charity shops? Perhaps a campaign should be started to attract business into the town?

Exactly! The Tonemar building would be perfect for our needs and would greatly serve the community as a whole - We have many things that we would like to put into practice that would benefit the local community, young and old alike. We really want to be able to offer services that are no longer available in Midsomer Norton, especially the use of a 'job centre' where people out of work in the area would be able to come and use the I.T facilities to search and apply for job's and would also give them the opportunity to brush up on their CV's and general I.T skills, while the music production and film making would give the younger (and older) generations something more to do than hanging about on the streets

Well, the council is going to have to do something soon....otherwise with all the job cuts etc....more shops will be closing and Midsomer Norton will look like a ghost town. Why can't they let out the places on a temporary basis to see it it would work. It sounds as if what TyEmery is suggestion would bring something new to the area...

Maybe if Midsomer Norton council weren't so against new ventures in the area it would attract more people.

I work for a local charity and we are crying out for space to be able run a community based training centre which would entail a job search facility (now the job centre has gone to Bath) a music workshop/I.T workshops/Holistic therapies/film production/sound recording/painting/yoga and fitness workshops etc - Tonemar would be absolutely perfect for this

Ohh, that would be great to get a business into the old card market. It's been closed ages now.
