Service with a smile...a thing of the past at Midsomer Norton supermarket

After a recent visit to a High Street supermarket in Midsomer Norton, I gather service with a smile is no longer the order of the day.Today as I was waiting at the checkout, the elderly woman in front of me was having trouble packing her groceries. She was getting more and more flustered as she was trying to open the orange plastic bags to put her groceries in. She apologetically explained to me and the others waiting that she had arthritis in her hands and it made grasping things difficult. You would have thought that was a signal for the cashier to realise she was having difficulty and offer a hand to help, but no....he just kept starring into space and did nothing as she fought with the bags and her groceries. She then thanked those waiting for being patient and it reminded me of the service you get at grocery stores in the USA. They’d never dream of leaving you to pack your own items....and if you were having difficulty, there would be at least two people to give you a hand.

Customers at US grocery stores at least have the luxury of having their shopping bagged up for them.
Has anyone else had shoddy service from businesses in Midsomer Norton? If so, do post your views and experiences....or if you’ve had great service, post that too.

ReportI know the store Mary is talking about. The other day I was shopping there and overheard a manager telling off some employees, as I was going down one of the aisles. h I don't think should be done in public, but perhaps behind closed doors. I also understand the cashiers have to put through so many items a minute...so perhaps, the cashier felt he needed a break. If you want good service my advice is go to Jackie Chan's Chinese Takeaway. There's always service with a smile there, not only from the counter staff but also from the cheeky little chap who can tell you all about who's who with the Transformers!

ReportIf you want service with a smile...then go to Midsomer Norton's Argos. Everytime I go there, I'm greeted with a helpful cashier who is always smiling. Even during the Christmas rush, I went there several times and each time the staff could not be more helpful - even helping me take heavy items to my car.
I was there again today...and the cashier was bubbly and seemed to be enjoying her job. It make shopping there a pleasure!
