St George's Day

With April now upon us, I just wondered if anyone has any idea's on how we can celebrate St Georges Day on the 23rd? I'm waiting for BaNES Council to confirm that I can put up some bunting on the railings in the High Street. I shouldn't think this should be too much of a problem as I've seen other things such as socks hanging there in the past.
I notice in the Journal this week that The Holcombe inn are planning a quiz and 3 course meal for under £13 so think I might give that a look.
I admire the way Scotland, Ireland and Wales go all out to celebrate their patron saints and would love the English to have the same pride. I appreciate we don't get a bank holiday for St Georges as the rest of the union do on St Andrew's, St Patrick's and St David's (although not sure why) but think we should dust off those St George Crosses and hang them everywhere! (Especially as we have a world cup to win this year ;-).
So Anyone got any other idea's?
