Young golfer takes to green for Henry and Ethan's trusts

Young golf star Josh Hilleard has been using his talent on the green to help raise funds for two disabled children.

The Norton Hill School, Midsomer Norton, student has been playing golf since he was a toddler, competing at club level since he was seven and at county level from the age of 12, when he was picked for the under-14s.

During the 2009 season Josh's grandparents have been sponsoring him for the Henry Ford Trust.

For every par, birdie or eagle holed during competitive play in 2009 he was given between £1 and £5 per hole.

Josh, who is coached by PGA professional Terry Williams, started the season as an 11 handicap and his expectation was to achieve a handicap of eight or less by the season's end.

He rose to the challenge, winning two junior opens and reducing his handicap to an impressive 5.5.

His grandparents stumped up £408. Josh has handed the money over to Henry's parents who have agreed to split the donation between Henry's trust and the Ethan Smith Trust.

Josh has now been included in the Somerset County Under-16 squad and not resting on his laurels, for the 2010 season he aims to continue with his fundraising efforts and will make the challenge more difficult by only claiming for birdies or eagles.

Anyone wishing to help Josh raise more money by sponsoring him can call his father Tony on 07736 071167.
