Are we too busy to care about girl power?

Today is International Women’s Day and every year on March 8 thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements.

According to the IWD website there is a global web of rich and diverse local activity connecting women from all around the world ranging from political rallies, business conferences, government activities and networking events through to local women's craft markets, theatric performances, fashion parades and more.
However, searching the site there was not one event listed for the South West of the UK - Cardiff was the closest.
The site urges women to make a difference, think globally and act locally and do their bit to ensure that the future for girls is bright, equal, safe and rewarding.
Do you know of any events going on or are we too busy to care about girl power?

ReportWhat's all this cobblers anyway. There seems to be an international day for everything you can think of.
A quick google threw up International Day of Peace (probably taking the ...), World Water Day (passing...), International Day for Biological Diversity, World Kidney Day, International Day of Awsomeness (missed that one - 10th March), International Day for Tolerance (stuff that...), International Day of Cooperatives, International Day of the Midwife, International Day against Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting, International day against Austrian repression, International Day of Democracy.... the list is as endless as it is meaningless...
I vote for an International Wear Your Underpants On Your Head and Stick a Pencil Up Each Nostril and Say 'Wibble' Day. And I nominate... TODAY. No. Can't do that. Today's International Day of Abject Apathy. Some other time...

ReportI am a woman and I should be very supportive of this day (which in some respects I am), but If there is a day for women then there should be an international Men’s day also! Could you imagine if this was reversed and there were an international men’s day and not one for women? I've no doubt we would say this was sexist!
We have come a long way over the decades, and there is still some work to be done for example fairer salaries for women in comparison to men etc.
It's the same scenario as Gay Pride (we don't have a heterosexual pride) or black history month (not a white history month) while these are all very important events we need to cater for the majority as well as the minority
