Why I like Midsomer Norton

Not a bad little shopping centre. Good mix of independent retailers with a few national names. Nice that it's unlike so many other identikit shopping centres. The increasing mileage of off-street cycleways on the old railway routes. The good community buzz. The excellent schools. Excellent little restaurants and cafes - special mention of No. 6 on the Island. And what an amazing thing that new skate park is. We didn't have anything like that in my day. Worse luck.

Why I don't like Midsomer Norton

Lousy public transport and congested roads. We really, really do need that railway back. We need more encouragement to use our feet and bicycles more, but the excess of motor vehicles and angry drivers is a real disincentive to many would be cyclists. (Forget the hills - they get easier, or you go faster, the more you ride up them). Not much local entertainment - no cinema; no theatre; pubs not very wonderful unless you like big screens and loud music.
